History
Schell & Hogan, LLP can trace our beginnings back to the Jacksonville,
Florida-based firm of Smoak, Davis, and Nixon, LLP. This firm was established
in 1924 at a time when public accounting was an emerging profession.
1956: Partners of Smoak, Davis, and Nixon, LLP open a branch in Brunswick, Georgia which operates under this name for the next decade.
1967: J. Powell Schell and Terry D. Hogan, both partners of Smoak, Davis, and Nixon, LLP, acquire the Brunswick office and begin to operate independently under the name of Schell & Hogan, LLP.
Since 1967, our firm has served clients across Southeast Georgia from the former main office in Brunswick as well as brief stints in the Georgia cities of Douglas and Hinesville.
2008: While operating a single Glynn County location in Brunswick for more than 40 years, Schell & Hogan, LLP establishes a second Glynn County location on St. Simons Island.
2015: The Brunswick office closes. All employees move into the expanded St. Simons location, where we open our doors for you today.
2026: We look forward to turning 70! As accountants and CPAs, we know that age is just a number.
