Internships
Internships are an important tool for college students and young professionals looking to break into the field of accounting and financial planning. Schell & Hogan, LLP seeks interns who possess the qualities of maturity, character, poise, and confidence. Paid internships run from January through April each year and are full-time during the internship period.

Tax Manager
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for small businesses, individuals, trusts and estates.
- Conduct comprehensive tax research and stay updated on tax laws and regulations across multiple states.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax obligations and ensure compliance with tax laws.
- Provide guidance and support to clients on tax-related issues, including estate planning and small business tax strategies.
- Manage and coordinate tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, providing training and professional development opportunities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and professional.
- Experience with financial accounting and reporting, audits, tax planning and strategy development.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, delegating when appropriate.
- Ability to maintain confidential records.
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- At least 7 to 10 years of experience in tax management; a focus on small businesses and individuals preferred.
- Extensive experience in conducting tax research across multiple states.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional client service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prolonged periods sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
